About Salary After Tax Global
Salary After Tax Global is a free, independent salary calculator that helps people in 10 countries quickly estimate their take-home pay. We believe tax tooling should be simple, transparent, and honest about its limits.
Why we built this
Most salary calculators are buried inside payroll software, locked behind a sign-up, or wrapped in so much technical detail that the answer to a simple question — "what will I actually take home?" — gets lost. Salary After Tax Global is the opposite: pick your country, type your gross salary, and see your net immediately. No accounts. No popups. No walls of jargon.
Our principles
- Estimates only. We are not a payroll provider, an accountant or a tax authority. Our calculator gives you a clear, national-level picture in seconds — not a payslip-grade figure.
- Your salary stays in your browser. The calculator runs client-side; the salary figures you type are never sent to or stored on our servers. See the privacy policy for the full picture, including what privacy-respecting analytics we may use.
- Open about sources. Every country page lists the official source we use (HMRC, IRS, ATO, SARS and so on) and the date its rules were last reviewed.
- No paywalls. The calculator is free, and always will be.
Countries we cover
We currently support take-home estimates for 10 countries. 4 use full real-math implementations of national income tax and the main employee social contributions. 6 use a simplified estimate-mode implementation that is clearly flagged at the top of each country page with an amber pill, so you can see at a glance which mode you're looking at.
Real-math countries
- United Kingdom (2026/27)
- United States (2026)
- Australia (2025/26)
- South Africa (2026/27)

How we keep this accurate
We review each country's published tax rates manually whenever the country starts a new tax year, or whenever a major budget announcement changes a band, threshold or contribution rate. The Last updated date shown at the top of every country page reflects when the rules behind that page were last reviewed against the official source — not just when the site was last redeployed.
For more on what we do and don't model — regional taxes, salary sacrifice, student loans, filing status — see our methodology page.
If you spot an out-of-date rate, a missing band, or a calculation that doesn't match your payslip, please tell us. Accuracy issues are the highest-priority feedback we receive.
How this site is funded
Salary After Tax Global is currently free to use and runs without any third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever introduce advertising, it will be disclosed on the privacy policy and a cookie-consent banner will be added at the same time for visitors in the UK and EU.
